At Riskonet we contribute to the development of knowledge and expertise in the field of asset risk management. Riskonet is the European partner of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The NFPA is an American non-profit organisation that aims to reduce the risk of fire and other hazards through scientific research, guidelines and education. With nearly 80,000 members, it is the largest organisation committed to fire safety in the world. Many companies and insurers work according to NFPA’s guidelines.
Through partnership with the NFPA, Riskonet hopes to increase the awareness of NFPA standards in Europe. Riskonet organises training programmes with NFPA-certified trainers (including Riskonet’s own Tom de Nooij) in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, Turkey, Iran and elsewhere. In collaboration with the Dutch fire department and the NFPA, Riskonet developed a specialised course that is based on NFPA standards 11, 13 and 30 (Fire Prevention Officer 1 and 2) in the Netherlands.
As a member of various seminar groups, Riskonet contributes actively to the development of new ways of thinking about (fire) risks. Tom de Nooij is the only European member of the NFPA 30 committee.
Riskonet is also an active participant within the Association of Insurers in the Netherlands. Riskonet thinks actively about the training and the work standards of safety inspectors.
